Create & Maintain Business Areas

The purpose of this article is to detail how to search, create and maintain Business Areas and Sub Business Areas.

Business Areas are functional business areas within your Organisation. For Example: Finance and Administration, Marketing and Sales and Learning. There are pre-existing Business Areas that have been set up in Serendata but they can be fully edited to reflect your Organisation. Each Business Area can be expanded out to have Sub Business Areas.

This article details how to:

  • Search for an existing Business Area

  • Create a new Business Area

  • Create a new Sub Business Area

  • Delete a Business Area

Searching for a Business Area

Step

Click in the bottom left-hand corner of the Home Screen.

Note: The Cog displays all sections that need to be completed in order.

Select Core Data.

Select Business Areas from the Sub Menu.

If there is a long list of pre-existing Business Areas, it is possible to perform a search to locate the required Business Area.

Click in the Search field.

Type the Business Area you require. For Example: Finance.

As you partially type, Serendata will highlight all Business and Sub Business Area relating to your search in Blue. The more you input, the more refined the search results will be.

Add a New Business Area

To add a new Business Area in Serendata:

Click next to the Search field.

This activates a new Business Area field at the bottom of the list. This field will have a bright blue line around it.

Enter the Name of the Business Area.

Click .

The new Business Area will appear as the last option within the tree.

Add a New Sub Business Area

To add to a sub process into an existing Business Area:

Click corresponding to the Business Area field under which the Sub Business Area will reside.

Note: This will display a new Business Area Input field.

Enter the title for the new Sub Business Area.

Click .

The new Sub Business Area will appear as the last option within the tree.

Delete a Business Area or Sub Business Area

To delete a Business Area or Sub Business Area:

Click corresponding to the Business Area or Sub Business Area that is to be deleted.
